Bethany Reed: Rising Star at Farmers & Merchants Bank

Hailing from Prairie Grove, Bethany Reed has had a remarkable journey in the banking industry, embodying many of the core values upheld by Farmers & Merchants Bank: authentic relationships, quality customer service and community involvement.

A former hairdresser, she began her banking career in 2011 as a teller at The Bank of Fayetteville branch in West Fork. Her dedication and leadership skills quickly propelled her through the ranks. After a stint as the Prairie Grove branch manager during The Bank of Fayetteville conversion to Farmers and Merchants Bank, she took on a larger role in Northwest Arkansas overseeing nine locations. Now vice president of retail operations, Reed epitomizes true community banking by cultivating trusted relationships with customers at Farmers and Merchants Bank.

Reed’s trajectory through banking’s evolving landscape is marked by dedication and passion. And as the industry undergoes technological shifts, her work to improve customer-focused processes and mentor young managers show the enduring importance of personal connections and a human touch.

“People want to feel appreciated,” she said. “They want to know you’re more than just a professional – you’re a friend who’s willing to roll up your sleeves and engage in genuine conversations.”

Reed’s unique journey – from hairstylist to banker – adds a distinct dimension to her role. Embracing her roots and drawing on diverse experiences, she emphasizes understanding and appreciating a customer’s individual needs and goals. The customer is always on her mind.

Reed not only champions the attitude of going the extra mile but also emphasizes the proactive approach that defines her work with clients. For her, the most rewarding aspects of her job revolve around customer service and team success. Ensuring customers leave with a smile and watching her team thrive are the driving forces behind her dedication.

Reed’s commitment to helping people extends beyond banking. She also contributes to the community’s well-being by serving on the board of faith-based nonprofit LIFE Ministries of Prairie Grove. Farmers and Merchants Bank’s dedication to community involvement aligns with her values of building relationships and caring for people.

Bethany Reed’s strong work ethic, positive attitude and customer-focused mindset define her professional approach. From her perspective, the team’s collective effort is key to the bank’s success. Reed’s work show that – in customer service or an other department – human connection and a collaborative spirit are what drive Farmers & Merchants Bank forward.
