Farmers & Merchants Bank Welcomes Billy Thompson to the Mountain Home Team

Farmers & Merchants Bank is excited to welcome Billy Thompson as Senior Vice President and Commercial Loan Officer at the bank’s Mountain Home branch.

A Greenwood native, Billy brings nearly a decade of experience in banking and lending — along with a drive to help families and businesses reach their financial goals. Known for his customer-first approach, he takes pride in building relationships and finding lending solutions that help local businesses grow and thrive.

Before joining Farmers and Merchants Bank, Billy served as Vice President, Loan Officer at First Security Bank, where he worked from 2018 to 2025. Before that, he was a Branch Sales Manager and Loan Officer for Arvest Bank from 2016 to 2018.

“I’m excited to join the Farmers and Merchants team and continue serving Mountain Home and the entire north-central Arkansas community,” Thompson said. “It’s incredibly rewarding to help local families and businesses reach their goals, and I look forward to contributing to the bank’s legacy of service and growth.”

Billy is a graduate of Greenwood High School who earned his associate degree from the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith and his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Arkansas State University.

When he’s not helping customers or working with local businesses, Billy is active in the community. He serves as chair of the Annual Gifts Committee for the Baxter Health Foundation and is treasurer and fifth-grade coach for Bomber Youth Football. He is also a member of the Lions Club and the Donald W. Reynolds Library Advisory Board.

Outside of work, Billy enjoys snow skiing, fishing, sports and spending time on the lake with his wife, Ashley, and their three children, Gabby, Izzy and Will.
