Partnering for Progress: How Farmers & Merchants Bank and Valley View School District Are Investing in the Future

At Farmers & Merchants Bank, our strongest partnerships are built on more than transactions — they’re built on shared values, local pride and long-term trust. Our relationship with Valley View School District is a perfect example.

Market President Randy Bearce had long envisioned bringing Valley View into the Farmers and Merchants Bank family. The result is a partnership that supports not only the district’s operations but also its people and students — a connection shaped by years of community involvement and personal ties.

“I’m a Valley View graduate, my sons went to school there and I’ve coached youth sports in the district for years,” Bearce said. “The ties run deep. This is something we’ve been working toward for a long time.”

Farmers and Merchants Bank had supported the district for years by financing school buses, even while another bank managed their primary accounts. Over time, Randy and his team proved their reliability and dedication. When the opportunity came for a new banking relationship, Valley View chose a partner they already trusted.

“It wasn’t just about numbers on a spreadsheet,” Bearce said. “They were looking for a true financial partner, not just a place to park deposits. That’s what made this opportunity so special.”

More Than a Banking Relationship

Since becoming the district’s bank, Farmers and Merchants Bank has offered exclusive benefits for Valley View employees — including preferred-rate checking and Christmas Club accounts — and remained involved beyond the financials. From sponsoring events to working directly with teachers and staff, the connection runs deep.
That support extends into the classroom. Branch Manager Chase Armstrong has visited students through the district’s EAST program to talk about banking careers. Other employees have volunteered to judge competitions, mentor students or help with school programs.

“When schools think of a banking partner, they don’t always consider how that partnership can support students directly,” Bearce said. “But the more we invest in students, the more we invest in the future of this community.”

A Community Win

Valley View’s trust represents a major milestone for our Jonesboro team, which has been building relationships in the region since 2008. Bearce credits part of the success to Finance Director Judy Clampit, whose knowledge helped guide the process.
“Judy is an expert in her field,” Bearce said. “She understands banking, knows what the district needs and values having a partner that’s responsive. Earning her trust was a big deal for us.”
The Valley View partnership reflects Farmers and Merchants Bank’s broader commitment to schools and institutions across the region through financial tools, career education and community involvement.
“When people move to Jonesboro, one of the first things they ask about is the schools,” Bearce said. “Valley View has been one of the fastest-growing districts in the area, and having a strong financial partner helps ensure that growth continues. This isn’t just a win for the bank — it’s a win for the entire community.”
